Free Revs Check

Prior to the establishment of the Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR), a REVS check could be acquired for free. To receive a free REVS check, the user could easily go online to the state register the motor vehicle is registered in e.g. Register of Encumbered Vehicle (REVS) or Vehicle Security Register (VSR), and then enter a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to receive their REVS check.

| In 2012, all state vehicle registers merged into a single state-wide PPS Register that consolidates all REVS and VSR data into the one database of motor vehicles across Australia.

| The PPSR not only provides information on motor vehicles (cars, bikes, caravans or machinery) registered in Australia but also any security interest in personal property that has been declared to the PPSR by individuals or businesses. Currently, the PPSR is administered by the Australian Financial Security Authority (AFSA).

Since the migration of all motor registries’ REVS data to the PPS Register, a REVS check (which is now a PPSR vehicle check) is unfortunately not free anymore. Irrespective of whether the vehicle is registered in NSW, QLD, WA, VIC, NT, SA, or ACT, any REVS check or PPSR check performed against the PPS Register now incurs a fee.

How to obtain your REVS Check

You can receive your REVS Check with PPSRCheck by using either a VIN or a registration (rego) plate number. PPSRCheck’s REVS Check contains an easy-to-read report containing valuable information such as if the vehicle is financially encumbered, been reported as either stolen or has previously been written off. PPSRCheck’s REVS Check also includes the official PPSR Certificate generated by the Australian Government of the vehicle being checked.
